OUR BEGINNING:

Five Good Sam members and friends decided to attend the Good Sam Rally in Syracuse, N.Y. in June, 2013.

As we were walking around the buildings, we spotted a Good Sam booth that was promoting chapters.
We inquired as to what was involved in starting a Good Sam chapter in our area, mainly South Western Ontario.
After asking many questions, we went back to our units and discussed with all involved.

We decided to go ahead and give it a try. A month later, on July 13, 2013, we were an official chapter named "Great Lakes Sams".

After 3 years of operation we have increased to 33 members and are still growing.

ABOUT US:

During the camping season, we have five (or more) outings and we do fundraising at these campouts for a non-profit
organization ( Salthaven Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Centre ).

Our members may also choose to attend the yearly themed Ontario Good Sam Rally where several chapters from Canada and the U.S. meet.

Our campouts usually have some optional side trips or tours organized by a volunteer from the chapter that may be of
interest to the members. There may be events organized at the campsites as well ( ie games, cookouts, music, etc ) to which
anyone can be involved or just enjoy watching. Some years there could be a longer trip, or caravan, planned by a trip co-ordinator
( and other volunteers ) such as the Agawa Canyon Railway trip in 2016.

But most of all we just want everyone to relax, enjoy, laugh, and share some stories around the campfire.
